Sculptures of couples are frequent in the African statuary. Couples of kings appear in almost all ethnic groups of the group Akan, but also among the Bangwa, Igbo, the Bamun, the Yoruba and other ethnic groups in Cameroon and Nigeria. In Nigeria, the Ibedji, twin couples who are given worship, stand out. Couples of primordial ancestors among the Dogón. Couples of the so-called “betises” lobi. And they also occupy a prominent place the couples blaulé Blolo Bian and Blolo Bla, baulés or husbands of the afterlife.
