Text of the original catalogue

People of Central Africa, in addition to being mainly implanted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, are also present in the Central African Republic and southern Sudan. They are divided into many groups that occupy different headquarters. In the century XIX and to the beginning of the XX They received the pejorative name Niam NIam or large eaters possibly because of their, apparently, anthropophagic inclinations. Animists, they practice magic, divination through the oracles and sorcery they use to fight enemies. In their artistic production they mainly highlight the sanzas, they also have ivory tubes and drums that they use in ritual and festive ceremonies. They are known as some statues of ancestors, maternities, flyflies and recline-heads.
