The Nafana are part of the big family Senufo, are little more than 60.000 persons, divided between northwestern Ghana and northern Ivory Coast. They speak the nafaanra, one of the senufo leagues. They're neighbors to the Ligbi and of Kulango and are relatives of the Tagawana-djimini. Previously they were implanted in the Upper Volta, current Burkina faso, in Loropeni, from where they emigrated to Sinematiali, in Ivory Coast, atts to settle in their current location, near Bonduku. Their Bedu masks are known. Iron masks, flat of quite large dimensions that usually dance by couples, male and female, carrying the male curved horns whose tips come together forming a circle. The colours white, red and black stand out. These masks participate in fertility rites, prevent diseases and sometimes exercise a social function.
