Text of the original catalogue

The Bakaalso known as Babinga or Bayaka, are the most important group of Pygmies in Cameroon, and as all these groups are quite primitive peoples and first inhabitants of these lands. They are usually socially and politically marginalized peoples. Its economy has been essentially based on small-scale hunting and farming. They have been sedentarized and are in place in the east and south of the country, although there are also some groups in Gabon. They have undergone many social changes in recent decades. They have occupied the lands in which they have lived for centuries and become national parks and are now criminalized for hunting for their own survival, which according to the current laws makes them poachers, and for collecting medicinal or edible herbs as they have done throughout their existence.
