Full original description

Great ebony statue depicting a Tanzanian mashai woman. The deformation of the ear pavilion, the custom of both men and women, with the belief that it embellishes their faces and that they often adorn with numerous beads, is very clear. The shaved head and the large necklace in the form of a platform around the neck that in reality is formed by beads, and that makes curious movements when jumping in the dances that currently offer to the many tourists who visit the area, since the Masái, neighbours of the large national animal parks, have become one of the most representative villages in Africa. The Masai people are flirtatious and in reality wear colorful clothes. Although this statue, being ebony, is totally black, the curious drawings that enhance his dress are noticed. Numerous bracelets both on the arms and on the generous wrists and breasts that stand out under the dress. In his right hand he carries a container consisting of a stylized pumpkin. It's hard to know if it contains water or milk, which is your staple food. This statue is part of a couple who belonged to a diplomat stationed in Tanzania in the late 1960s.
