Full original description

They are known as legless statues, being represented with an artistically scarified torso that reaches practically to the ground. They are real statues. They carry a wide headdress that is stylized at the top with a kind of backward hair horn. This statue represents Totshi or Etoshi, a king Ndengese under whose authority were various chiefdoms. This effigy represents the king embodying his majesty and serene authority. The Ndengese are located in the western Kasai, in the Dekese region. They're neighbors to the Kuba. The hat worn by the high dignitaries indicates the respect, intelligence, distinction and unity of the chiefs around their king. Ringed neck in sign of distinction, as well as wrist and body bracelets, profuse and artistically scarified. Beautiful patina of time.
