Full original description
Reliquary Kuyuwhose cover is made up of a sober-looking head, very different from the typical polychrome heads that revere the god Ebongo, who transmits his revelation to the young initiates. These heads are the emblem of the clan of the serpent, which uses them mainly in the rites that evoke creation with their dances represent all the myths of their origins with their primordial serpent represented by these heads called kebekebe. There are different sizes. They are stuck in a long stick whose bearer manipulates them, disguised under a long dress. Also represented in these dances is the primordial couple, Joku and Ebotita.
It all suggests that this head represents some ancestor of Ottote society whose relics were found in the box. The secret society Ottoté named the chiefs and was in charge of maintaining social order. Natural patina made of wood aged by time.
