Full original description
Once again, the realism of the art of Benin's castors is confirmed by this figure of queen. The Oba's wife girds the royal crown used to participate in important ceremonies. The coral-shaped braids fall on both sides of the head. The same radiating sun as in the robe of the sovereign appears in its crown. She wears necklaces that mark her dignity and a coral belt is knotted under her waist. On her right arm and on her left wrist she wears two bracelets that protect her from adversity. It is placed on a pedestal with a majestic gesture.
