Full original description

Head of a princess or a young queen. These heads are a symbol of the continuity and permanence of royalty. They were meant to honor ancestors in family altars, while beautifying them. At first they were made of wood or clay, difficult to preserve throughout the times. The brass, or African bronze, in addition to enduring through the times, by its shining brightness had the virtue of turning away the forces from evil. The head has been rebreathed as a previous owner had sanded it to leave the metal color and removed the original patina. The thinness of the walls and the smoothness of the details seem to indicate that it is a rather ancient object, certainly for several centuries.
