Full original description

Beautiful exhibition of the realistic art of Benin. This figure already shows the side fins of the headdress introduced by the Oba Osemwede in 1816The king is dressed in the clothes of a device. The sculptor has represented him with the richest galas he wears at official ceremonies. She wears her mesh top on a tunic embroidered with a irradiating sun and features her pectoral collars and the twenty-six-six-striped coral necklace on her neck. The figure is placed on a pedestal and carries in the right hand a kind of scepter or cup, which does not appear to be the original.
