Full original description
Although we catalogue this Ngoin mask as a bamún mask because it is the ethnic group in which it is most represented, it is actually present in almost all the ethnic groups that occupy Grassland. It is a female mask that is presented in multiple forms because each lineage can have several dozens of masks, with or without beard, with hair sculpted in wood or formed with vegetable fiber or wool, with black pigmentation or coated with brass or copper foils. Laughing expression with jumping eyes, wide nose and open mouth. These masks participate in the memorial ceremonies of the deceased and in the funerals of the illustrious characters. The Ngoin mask is the first wife of the Kam mask, very similar but more austere look.
In this female mask stand out the cheeks of the face and its hairstyle formed by small monkeys. Round bajp eyes large arched eyebrows. Elongated nose with a small rhomboid mouth, ajar, showing two rows of pointed teeth. Black color, worn out by time.
