Full original description

Front mask composed of elements representing the shark, the ray and the sawfish, aquatic animals that appear very frequently in the masks that the Bidjogo use in initiation rites, mainly of cabarians. The teeth of the sawfish are straight, we do not know the intention of the author of this mask when placing the sawfish with curved teeth, difficult to identify. The Bidjogo, inhabitants of the Bisago Islands are a little known village and very few bidjogo objects sold by antique dealers, in the sub-basas or in art galleries. It is a town that is hardly detached from its ritual objects. Patina for use.
