Full original description

All the sacred pieces of the Bidjogos are called "iran" and most of them are altars or altar pieces. This piece can be considered reliquary, as it is destined to receive in the womb the relics of some ancestor or altar as a sacred figure. Several female breasts surround this woman's neck to indicate that she is the mother nutrition, the mother who has given many children to the world and who is the feeder of the lineage. The bidjogo pieces are rare to find among the collectionists, galleryists and antiquarians of African art because this ethnic group is very difficult to dissipate from their ritual pieces. Patina for use.
