Magnificent terracotta head that undoubtedly represents an Oni or a notable Ife. It's worth noting the finesse of the strokes. Remember chief Yoruba Lajuwa who usurped the throne after the death of the OniAworokolokin, according to F. Willet. Many heads have been found in Ife, independent of busts or whole body characters. This piece is probably a reproduction but it reflects the morepure style practiced in Ife. Only the thermoluminescence test could give the exact feha.
