Full original description
TheSumbwaare an ethnic and linguistic group located in the Bukombe district, in the Shinyanga region, in the center of the country.
It's hard to know what the purpose of this mask was. Its typology is due to Charles Meur, in his article published in Art d'Afrique noire, no 92, 1994. This mask has a smiling appearance, and it would be sarcastic. His realistic face, with perfectly carved teeth, along with his torn eyes and large ears confer a great expressiveness.
