Full original description

These small masks are usually carved into bovid bone, preferably the tibia. The most well-known are those manufactured by Baulé. On average they range between ten and twenty centimeters. The larger ones are usually commemorative masks, representing an ancestor or, like some passport masks, representing a known or important mask. Some are intended to be ported as protective pendants or amulets, others as ornament or simply decorative.

Big size mask to be carved into bone. Female face that is part of a couple, small difference in hairstyle with masculinian face. Sophisticated comb with a small central circle from which five cauries vertically split the forehead into two. The expression of the male face is somewhat more severe and from the central rosette three orlas of hair break instead of the two of the female hairstyle. Old patina.
