Full original description

An exvote is an offering in gratitude for the favors obtained from a higher being. Its origin dates back to ancient Egypt and mesopotamia, although it has been practiced by almost all peoples and religions. In the case of African animists, these are offerings to a divinity or an ancestor, usually in relation to the cosmogony of ethnicity. The bronze figurines that appear in the oquities of the Bandiagará cliff, in the dogon territotio, and in some other places in Africa are not commemorative figures in the African sense, but true exvotes. The castor has used a stone, as a base structure, upon which the bronze has poured. Greenish patina.
