Full original description
Curious stylization of this dog mask typically MambilaA pronounced jaw that keeps thinking about the crocodile's jaws. Jumping and cylindrical eyes with an outer eye orbit forming a large relief. Horns that resemble those of the bovids.
The dog mask, in its different varieties, is one of the most representative of the Mambila. This mask of light anthropomorphic features offers the particularity of having three horns of difficult definition. It appears in the agricultural seasonal processions and dances, always placed behind an anthropomorphic mask. His jaws want to be those of a dog, an animal that is eaten by the Mambila During the holidays, the patina costrosa suggests that this mask has been the object of ritual libations.
