Full original description
Mask Duglé or Deanglé. Its name comes from "Du" immaterial force or genius of nature and "glé", materialization of that force. It's a mask of information or cow. Announce the good news and bad news to the village. It always manifests itself at night. duglérepresents a cow with a mobile lower jaw.
Contrary to most of the dan or yacuba masks that have feminine faces of great sweetness, this mask has a masculine face. With features more marked than in the female masks, an edge divides its forehead into two parts, from top to bottom and a more prominent nose. Well-carved teeth, especially in the upper jaw.
This mask does not participate in dances or singing, it serves as an intermediary between the sacred forest, where the initiation of young people takes place, and the village. Its main task is to inform about the evolution of the initiatic process, to seek food for young neophytes among the women of the village, with whom he jokes to make them generous. This mask has participated in ritual ceremonies as evidenced by the projections of kaolin received, it was collected in territory Dan mid-century XX by the Valencian forest prospector David Alcocer. In his origin it was a mask of griot.
