Full original description

The essential function of African sex covers, especially when they are artistically decorated, is not what their name indicates but rather to attract the attention of male looks, to stimulate desire. They have a double function, aesthetic and erotic. They are usually used as a belt on large occasions such as village parties, weddings or presentation of newborns to the community.

Women in the group KirdiIn northern Cameroon, they use well-known sex covers that resemble a small skirt of multicolored beads and wear them on certain festivities as if it were their traditional costume. The drawings constitute a true code of signs, by which they indicate the rank of its carrier, whether it is celibate or married or belonging to a particular clan. They also serve as barter and dowry coins.

Covered artistically woven with red, white and dark blue ceramic pearls with cauris pendants.
