Full original description
Bird that embodies tutelary spirits, used in various ceremonies. It is a protective spirit, which is why it is used in funerals and burials, to watch over ancestors. They are also called upon for good harvests. In many of these ceremonies, in the family or village altars, libations of millet beer will be offered.
This black bird, with its wings deployed, carries geometrical drawings with a slight relief along its entire body.
Among the Mossi masks are frequent those representing bird heads.
