Full original description

Small barn door with a turtle, one of the mythical animals of the dogon, on which there are carved four hare masks. The hare means cunning and the turtle is a patriarchal symbol. In the absence of the aptriarch she takes the first bite and the first sip of water. In addition to representing the apriarca the turtle represents the region inhabited by the Nommo, that is, the city of the sky. The drawings of his shell indicate the paths of the rain or the paths of the water.
