Full original description
Anthropomorphic figure in heavy ferruginous terracotta. Arms along the body slightly flexed and missing part of the legs. This material is not the usual in Djenne ceramics. It manifests a great antiquity. Because of the vagueness of the features it could be the image of an ancestor founder of a lineage employed in family cults.
