Full original description
Large mask belonging to the ethnic group of fishermen BozoAlthough mostly converted to Islam they follow some of their animistic practices such as the cult of the water geniuses, the Yerous and the cult of Faro. Their fish-shaped puppets are known, and they are also antrropomorphs intended for their comedies to make people laugh. This mask totally moves away from all these practices. It should not be forgotten that there are also bozo hunters, so everything tends to think that this mask belongs to a secret society of hunters and that it is destined for their initiation rites and participation in the funerals of their members. By the horns the represented animal could be an orix.
