Full original description

Songyé statues are not a symbol of power in the traditional sense or representation of ancestors, they are oriented in a fetishist sense. In order for the statue to acquire its protection power and ensure the union and prosperity of the people, it must be “charged” with the magic substances that are introduced into the ventral, cranial cavity or into the horns with which some of the most important or “charged” fetishes are adorned thanks to the rites that confer its power and effectiveness.

Its variety is as numerous as its sizes. It is usually male representations with hands resting on the sides of the abdomen. The belly is normal voluminous. Large trapezoid-shaped head, which lengthens narrowing at the bottom. The purpose of these statues is to protect against evil forces. His pointed chin makes him think it's Kibeshi style. Dark patina.
