Full original description
Curious figure of an old man kneeling and sitting on his heels, with his hands in his belly, a torso totally disproportionate to the lower limbs. Two vertical snakes travel through the chest and back from top to bottom. The snake is a representation of Lebé, the first dogon ancestor who rose in the form of a snake and who led his people to the cliffs of Bandiagará.
