These pieces were used in Baule territory well into the 20th century. All differ in shape, dimensions or weight and bear various surface motifs. These motifs form a true code of signs, a language known only to some high initiates. The late Professor Georges Niangoran Nbouah left an extensive three-volume treatise on goldweights, undoubtedly the first and most in-depth study of the subject.
Two-tier piece with a very low upper triangle. Small lines extend from its corners and side centres to the corresponding points of the lower triangle. Weight: 73.3 g.
