Full original description

The bidjogos pieces are among the most difficult to find among collectors, gallerists and antique dealers, as it is exceptional that this ethnic group is detached from their objects. This fish is worn by Bidjogo women on their heads on certain holidays and when they want to make a collection for a specific purpose and especially when they want to collect money to celebrate a wedding they take the fish off their heads and present it as if it were a dish in whose occasion to receive the obolo. The Bidjogo people live mainly from fishing so the fish bring them all kinds of luck. Patina for use.
