Full original description

The women's masks intervene on the occasion of the enthronement of the bosses and assert the rank of women in a society in which the power of the notables comes from the woman, from her female ancestors, evoking in a special way Queen Abla Pokou. Large mask with numerous scarifications on the face that indicate its high social level. Expression of sweetness and elegance, typical of the Baule statuery. On the forehead there is a small mask. The ciliary arches painted in kaolin white, like the alternate triangles of the feast surrounding the face and the embossed motif of the headdress highlight the mask by establishing a vivid contrast with the black color.
