Full original description
Curious couple of stone of origin and dating indeterminate, but that by the jumping eyes of the characters and being pieces coming from Nigeria we have attributed to the Yoruba. There is no previous documentation to be able to catalog these pieces accurately, but comparing them with other stone-carved funeral figures we think it can be funeral stones. They come from the collection of an engineer, already deceased, who worked in the construction of the Nigerian railway. The patina of these stones is very old, not to say very old. One of them represents a man, possibly the husband, with a beard. The figure appears sitting on her folded legs. The second figure is a woman riding on a horse, with something in her right hand that appears to be a scepter. By possessing a mount or there is doubt that it is a couple of notables, who have also undoubtedly been subjected to numerous libations given their thick patina sacrificial. Very dark patina.
