Full original description
By the pro-eminent navel and the incipient breasts could be the representation of a young woman, as well as the bracelets she wears on her arms and wrists and the double row of necklaces that surround her neck. Two belts that surround his torso seem to hold his dress. Her bulging belly and a hand over her, which is a symbol of motherhood, suggest that she is a young pregnant woman, a frequent image in iconography. djennéThis image of the pregnant woman is associated with that of the serpent who recalls the rites of fertility and immortality. The image of the snake is also repetitive in the terracottas djenné.
