MASSARA MARIPOSA BWA

(BURKINA FASO)

They are usually large masks, light wood and colorful polychrome on a white background, which are manifested during fertility cults and after harvests. Remember that butterflies appear in large flocks after the rainy season. Its carriers, by dancing, evolve imitating the flight of butterflies and make artistic evolutions, standing on the ground and spreading its wings as the insect does when persipating on a flower.
