Full original description
These small forefather figures were passed on from generation to generation by members of the secret Bwami society. They were the object of family worship. This statuette has no pedestal, contrary to most of the African statues that carry a small pedestal carved on the same piece of wood. The arms and legs of this figure are separated, with the hands resting slightly on the sides. evident masculinity. Luba influence is observed. Her arched legs offer the impression of wanting to abrogate a movement. The head with its thin smoldered beard, which gives a triangular shape, reflects the dignity of the ancestor. Large globular eyes on almost spherical coffee beans. Red wood with old patina for use.
