The usual thought is that these rough statues of the Mambila Although it is true, recent studies seem to show that they would also have been used for therapeutic purposes. They could be used for medical practices and also for magic, for example, to discover the guilty of a crime by wrapping it in a piece of cloth of one of his garments and causing him a disease if it was the real culprit.
